• Two things have changed from my 20s to my 30s. My taste in wine and my evening routine/bedtime and for that I couldn’t be happier. Being a Taurus girly, I love the comforts of my own home << I also want people to feel safe, calm, and comfortable in my house>> and I love to stick to a routine and, don’t do well with change, but change is important sometimes even if its subtle. I have been loving setting my evening boundaries by having a glass or two of wine around 6pm and then some with dinner and make myself be in bed and unwinding at least by 11pm, sometimes 10:30pm. God forbid a girl enjoy a girl dinner and a glass or Rosé or Orange wine to unwind with her own thoughts, a Throne of Glass audiobook, or this months Thriller Book Club book on her kindle. An evening ritual lets us get into the right head space to unpack the day or think about what needs to be done the following day. An evening ritual will look different to everyone, but I do think they are healthy and helpful and shouldn’t be shamed. Now let’s talk wine.

Summertime calls for refreshing, perfectly chilled, crips wines. Rosé and Orange wines are two that are sought after during the warmer months. I drink rosé year round, but there is definitely something magical about its juicy red fruit and acidity that makes you wanna drink it by the pool. Rosé will always be my go-to girl dinner/snack plate pleasant pairing and I’ll fight you on it. Champagne and Orange Wine are acceptable alternatives 🙂 These two styles of wine have been fighting for the spotlight and I do think that Orange wine has taken the lead just by a little in 2025. Let’s break it down. Both wines see skin contact giving them their gorgeous various hues. Rosé takes red grapes and those grapes sit on skin contact during the maceration process giving them a light pink hue. Some can even be darker in color from longer skin contact and still be juicy and dry wines. The lighter rosés are crisp clean, bright berries, strawberries, watermelon, some citrus, and crisp mouthwatering acidity. Darker rosés like Atilia Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo or Tavel are beautiful wines good for pizza night, a good barbecue party, or holiday season with turkey if you don’t want a chilled red wine because they do offer more of a backbone than the lighter rosés. They all have a time to shine it really just depends on what you’re doing.

Does orange wine have anything to do with oranges? The answer is no. Sorry, it doesn’t takes like SunnyD. Orange wine is made like Rosé, but instead of red grapes it comes form white grapes and gives a gorgeous orange hue to the wine. Like there are spectrum of Rosé hues Orange wine has a spectrum of flavors and funk where the color mostly stays the same. Timing is everything with Orange wines. They are are fuller bodied than most white wines, but don’t lack aromatics or structure, there’s just not the astringency that comes from tannins so they are definitely still crushable. Orange wine is having its moment and its unbelievably good with Asian dishes, sushi, a chicken Caesar pasta salad, curry and roasted veggies, or spicy Thai dishes. You’ll find flavors of tropical fruits, honey, apricot, tangerine, strawberries, some floral notes, as well as some nutty flavors. Orange wine has been a wine making process for a long time so we know it’s not going anywhere but if you haven’t had the chance to try one I highly recommend branching out and giving one a try next time you want some Chinese take out and a scary movie with your friends.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried Orange wine! I also wanna know if you’re Team Rosé or Team Orange. What are some of your evening rituals? Remember a glass of wine always helps make the vibe right and you’re not alone.

  • Hello my Cork Coven and a happy Summer Solstice to y’all! Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year so why not eat and drink some of your favorite things while being happy in the sun all day. If you’re anything like me and love the heat and the sun but I also understand wanting to run away into the AC, but if you have refreshing snacks and thirst quinching vino then anything is possible. I am truly blessed and have a gorgeous sun porch that I practically live in that brings in the best breeze and makes me feel like I am in a tree house. I am also truly blessed because I have a bestie who is a chef, and she introduced me to the most delicious snack that tastes like summer. For my tomato lovers.

SO since today is the longest day of the year let’s eat and drink something that we wouldn’t ever want to run out. Get the biggest plate you have and the biggest bottle of wine you have << 1L are my favorite personal size, but a magnum 3L and jeroboam 4.5L will make you the coolest kid at the party>> Grab your yellow tomato, red onion slices, avocado, cottage cheese with some red wine vinegar, olive oil, s&p drizzled over top and dive in– it screams summer and will definitely cool you off and won’t make you feel bloated and heavy! Today we have a 1L of Pullus Halozan White Blend from Slovenia. A beautiful blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling, Furmint, & Muscat. This wine is dry but full of fresh flavor. She gives us fresh summer fruit flavors like apricot, peach, pear, lemon citrus and gorgeous light summer aromas of chamomile, white flowers with some hints of salinity to balance it all out. For all my white wine lovers this goes down way too easily so make sure you have enough bottles on hand cus you won’t get tired of this one. This wine worked so well with this delicious lil snack because its wonderful acidity complimented the juiciness in the tomatoes while the softness of the wines flavors balanced out the tang of the red wine vinegar and the creaminess of the cottage cheese. A very pleasant pairing! Other recs for Summer Solstice sips would be Gruner Veltliner << pictured below with my beagle Ollie on our patio>>, Sparkling Rose, or a light chillable bright red wine like Frappato or Beaujolais.

I woke up today and truly felt Mother Nature working her power for us to be able to soak up every moment of this years Summer Solstice. In Kentucky it has not felt like summer due to it being rainy here for literal weeks, but today she decided to give us the most beautiful summer day of sunshine, a nice breeze, and ever so slight cloud coverage and a glimmer of hope that summer is here in the Bluegrass! I hope you find the time to embrace the Summer Solstice today. Enjoy this combo if youd like, or whatever combo makes your little hearts happy, outside soaking up the suns strength and warding off all the darkness we no longer need in our lives. If you prefer to be in the AC then throw on a cute beachy, naturey, or vibey ambiance on your tv and be transported somewhere else for the moment. The Summer Solstice helps us center ourselves and live in the moment. So gather your friends, or enjoy some solo time to reflect, in the grass outside and sip and snack while grounding yourself in nature. Plant some new intentions for the rest of your summer, do a tarot reading if you need some guidance, or simply right yourself a little note of things you might want to manifest.

I hope you have a wonderful day and drink something delicious! Remember a little wine always makes the vibe right & you’re not alone.

Love you to the moon & back,

  • I am so happy to be back using this as a creative outlet for my adhd brain that never wants to turn off. Thankful for those who followed my Sommadelic Wine Blog page back in 2018, but I’ve decided to come back and be better than ever and hopefully form a following with The Cork Coven. I know I could show face on Instagram Reels and yap y’all’s ears off about witchy wine things, but I think I like the feeling of writing. Maybe I’ll switch it up and try to do both sometimes ya never know. I can be full of surprises.

Well life really lifed at me pretty damn hard the past 5 years and I’m ready to get to sharing my love for wine, food, and all things witchy with y’all again. I’m back in my hometown of Lexington, KY and very happy in my cozy house that I am continuously trying to turn into my very own Practical Magic oasis with maybe a touch of maximalism decor that I share with my curmudgeny 15 year old beagle Ollie. I have switched gears a little bit since being home and have transitioned to Real Estate as well as helping my friend at her gorgeous, and beautifully curated, boutique wine <and plant> shop. Most all of the wines I talk about and share on this journey will come from her shop unless I open some goodies that I have brought back from my travels. Will always and forever support women supporting other women.

Kitchen witchery wise I love putting intention into what I am eating and drinking. I am a huge fan of savory girl dinners, 3-5 ingredient protein packed meals, gorgeous salads with lots of toppings, or anything that I can pop in my Airfryer and you better believe I’ll always wash it down with a glass or 3 of wine 🙂 I’m so glad to be back and I have tons of ideas that I want to share with y’all >>> some posts may be short and sweet while others are long winded, but regardless I’m ready if you are! Food will always be incorporated hopefully but I’m also thinking Tarot card pulls, Astrology/Co-Star vibes, thriller books + horror movie parings, and some kitchen witchery wine aromas + their witchy properties to give you a sneak peak of what’s on my list of ideas. Thanks for being here. Remember a glass of wine always makes the vibe right & you’re never alone.

Love You To The Moon And Back,
